"Our Nordic heritage and global experience make us the perfect partner for sustainable change in your community." - Jukka-Pekka Pitkänen, Global Division Director, Ramboll Smart Mobility

Smart Mobility

The communities in which we live, work, and play must be easy to get around. Traditional planning that relies on complex, infrastructure-intensive transportation systems has led to congestion, noise, poor air quality, high safety risks, and contributes significantly to global warming. We must do things differently. There is a clear need to rethink how we design our cities and how we can prioritize low-carbon modes of transportation like walking, bicycling, buses, and trains. Today’s mobility challenges need to be solved by a holistic approach, integrating urban planning, a suite of context-relevant modal options, and digital/technological solutions that simplify our lives.

What we offer

Ramboll combines our technical domain know-how with our understanding of the complicated governance and financial structures of the transportation sector. Our management consultants, energy planners and global community of smart mobility experts work with you to develop holistic mobility strategies.

Simulating passenger flows, testing the impact on urban energy systems and estimating socio-economic impacts of different solutions. Our experience ranges from modeling the impact of urban development on transport usage, and delivering roadmaps for implementing new technologies like autonomous vehicles, to electric buses, MaaS (Mobility as a Service) solutions or action plans for increasing the uptake of cycling and walking.
