Trina Minchella talks about the way Ramboll’s culture, values and flexible working are helping her achieve more than she thought possible

Trina joined Ramboll in 2021 and works within the Transport market as Director for Rail Infrastructure. Trina is also the senior sponsor for the Racial Equality employee network. Find out more about her experiences of working at Ramboll:

On using flexible working to producing her best work…

I struggle to switch focus from one topic to another and find that I produce my best quality work towards the end of the day when the meetings end and the calls stop. Having the flexibility to organise my day to make the most of my calm, productive period in the afternoon into the evening also frees my mornings for enjoyable activities, like exercise, which further benefit my productivity. I’ve found Ramboll’s approach to flexible working refreshing - it’s truly helping me to thrive and has provided me with greater resilience to overcome the challenges of a new role.

On a culture that motivates people to achieve more…

Ramboll’s progressive, approachable, respectful, and empowering culture has already changed the kind of leader and person I am; there is a noticeable change in my approach to challenges, to equality and diversity and to sustainability. I think the key to the culture is that there is no “stick”, only respect and support, which motivates people to want to achieve more than they’d have thought possible of themselves. I challenge my own thinking constantly and aspire to be the kind of thought leader I experience around me in this organisation. The leadership in the UK is truly inspiring, they’re the kind of leaders we all hope to be one day and getting to learn from them suggests we will.

On being part of a values-driven company…

The company’s values and purpose are threads that run through everything we do, from the way we treat each other to the way we engage with our clients and the change we drive through the solutions we deliver. It inspires me to think bigger and be braver in my own ambitions to influence the world around me. I am supported in developing my team and celebrating their successes, but also encouraged to support our employee networks, using working time to promote diversity and create opportunities for women and minorities to succeed. All the limits and boundaries I’ve experienced during various stages of my career no longer exist for me.

On opportunities to discover your passion at Ramboll…

I believe that every employee at Ramboll has a wide range of opportunities to discover their passion and find what they’re good at. They get to experience working with the best people in their profession, people who care and want them to succeed and that allows each of us to aim a little higher than we may have otherwise.
