Antony Gibson
With our new group of global experts and thought leaders, we are ready to address the global challenges in collaboration with clients and partners.
As a result of water overuse, pollution, and flooding 2.3 billion people face water stress annually. Following ongoing population growth, rapid urbanisation, and climate change these issues will continue to arise all over the globe. To ensure that accessible and safe water resources will meet the future water demand, the solution must be found in how we manage and treat our water sources.
This drives a growing need for innovative and sustainable advanced water treatment technologies that use less energy and chemicals, remove pollutants more effectively, and fit into circular concepts. Therefore, Ramboll Water have identified sustainable advanced water treatment as one of our strategic focus areas supporting the companywide Partner for Sustainable Change strategy.
Department of Global Advanced Water Treatment
To support this effort, we have established a Global Advanced Water Treatment department which gathers leading expertise in the identification, evaluation and implementation of advanced process technology. This new team includes process engineers, process scientists and project delivery specialists, with a track record of solving difficult water sector challenges. The team works to support clients across the globe, often in close collaboration with local colleagues who have the contextual insight needed to run and realise projects successfully.
The department is anchored in the Water & Wastewater Treatment division and headed by Antony Gibson. Antony is a chemical engineer with more than 20 years of technical and commercial leadership experience. In recent years, he has worked extensively with the implementation of advanced drinking water treatment technologies by clients in Europe, North America and Asia Pacific. This has included work with ion exchange technologies, ceramic membrane filtration and reverse osmosis desalination. In addition to his drinking water treatment work, Antony has also worked extensively with municipal and industrial wastewater treatment technologies. This includes in-depth work with technologies such as ultraviolet disinfection, advanced oxidation, moving bed bioreactors, and membrane filtration.
Taking water treatment to the next level
Jonathan Clement, Director for Advanced Water Treatment, will be leading the direction of the team, focusing on its effort in innovative use of advanced treatment technologies and helping Ramboll to take water treatment to the next level.
Since 1997, Jonathan Clement has focused on advanced water treatment technologies including ceramic membranes, desalination, advanced oxidation, and ion exchange. Previously, Jonathan was Chief Executive Officer of PWN Technologies, a subsidiary of PWN, the innovative water supply company of North Holland. He has been an International Water Association (IWA) fellow since 2012 and is currently member of the Singapore Water International Water Week (SIWW)’s program committee. In 2019 Jonathan was listed as one of the top 25 global water leaders in the world. He is currently the Chair of the IWA's leading edge water treatment technology conference.
