Program (times are in CET):
11:00 Welcome words / Webinar moderator Ian Sacs opens the webinar
11:05 Detailed People Flow Insights through Mobility Nowcasting / Martijn Hollestelle, Lead Data Scientist, Ramboll Digital Mobility Lab
This presentation introduces Mobility Nowcasting, a method that combines transport models with real-time data sources to track current movement patterns. Mobility Nowcasting uses best practices from data science and mobility domain expertise to provide data-driven insights into user needs and mobility patterns. In this presentation, we will detail the out-of-home advertising use case, where we have developed and maintain a database including estimated multi-modal traffic flows with high demographic granularity near outdoor advertisement panels. This initiative aims to enhance advertising effectiveness and campaign results for media companies. Additionally, Mobility Nowcasting has multiple other applications that will be presented and discussed.
11:20 People Flow in Proptech / Ulla Tikkanen, Business Development Manager, KONE New Business Innovation
Moving 2 billion people every day and as the global leader in People Flow planning, KONE underscores the importance of analyzing and simulating movement patterns as a foundational element in property development. From early-stage design and simulation to construction, daily operations, and long-term maintenance, elevators produce rich, real-time data that captures human movement, usage trends, and occupancy levels. This data empowers property developers, facility managers, and technology providers to optimize space utilization, boost energy efficiency, and elevate tenant experience. Ultimately, people flow data enables smarter decision-making throughout planning, operations, and sustainability efforts.
11:35 Real-time Crowd Insights: Case Oslo / Tapio Levä, D.Sc. (Tech.), Head of Data & AI Business, Telia Business Solutions
This talk explores the innovative use of real-time mobility data by Telia to enhance urban management and emergency response in Oslo. Telia's cutting-edge technology provides anonymized, real-time data on how people move within the city, updated every five minutes. This data is crucial for city planners, emergency services, and technology companies to make informed decisions about resource allocation, event management, and public safety. We will delve into the successful collaboration between Telia and Oslo's city authorities, highlighting the benefits of visualizing crowd movements during major events like the May 17th celebration.
