Mobilising public transport
Mobility and transport is essential for the development of any modern society. With people and goods crossing borders every day, globalisation has increased the importance of an efficient and sustainable transport system.
Enabling Light Rail Solutions
It also makes a strong case for light rail, being a high capacity, zero-emission alternative to road traffic. In recent years, a long list of densely populated cities from Kiel to Sydney have introduced light rail transport as a means for efficient and sustainable public transport.
Digital Railways & ERTMS
With increasing urbanisation, road congestion and a focus on the environment and energy consumption, railways offer a strong alternative to road transport for people and freight. As a result, construction and upgrading of railways is rapidly increasing all over the world.

Selected Projects
Germany: Sustainable, high-quality Local Transport System

Kiel commissioned our experts to develop a local transport concept for a high-quality local public transport system. We convinced with our holistic and international know-how.

Denmark: Biggest Rail Signalling System
All rail signalling systems in Denmark are being renewed in the coming years. Rail Net Denmark, responsible for operating and developing Danish railways has chosen the international consortium Ramboll-Atkins-Emch+Berger-Parsons for the job with the biggest Danish consultancy contract to date.
Germany: Driverless system for Frankfurt Airport
With 64,5 million passengers per year the airport in Frankfurt is Germany’s largest airport and an international aviation hub. The new people mover system will supplement the existing line with 5,6 km track paths. Ramboll partners with Obermeyer and Prose to ensure quality control, in close cooperation with the system provider Siemens and Max Bögl Group.

ERTMS: Sustainable Rail Systems enabled by Digitization

The introduction of a common European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) throughout Europe aims at improving the connectivity between European cities and capitals and allow for seamless travel within the European Union. Therefore, all European countries will need to operate signalling systems based on the European standard over the next 10-15 years. Read more on how we can help to accelerate this and support a Europe that moves and grows together.
