How to optimise carbon capture with advanced energy integration at your cement plant

In this 45-minute webinar we touch upon one of the most pertinent challenges in the evolving carbon capture market - how to optimise carbon capture with advanced energy integration at your cement plant.

Join experts from Ramboll to learn:

  • Which carbon capture technology designs have a low energy consumption?

Different carbon capture technologies deliver different performance and need different types of energy, and therefore there is no one size fits all. However, technology needs to deliver much more than nice performance on paper. We will give you an overview of the most relevant technologies to be considered and why.

  • How can you achieve competitive energy performance with the right carbon capture technology design?

Focusing on one technology we will suggest how to achieve competitive energy performance by tweaking the technology and implementing innovative energy optimisations. We will provide you with an overview of optimal designs in different scenarios.

  • How can you optimise waste heat recovery to ensure a high energy yield?

Many cement plants are fitted with waste heat recovery in one way or another and for multiple reasons. However, the energy used in carbon capture will require a higher degree of waste heat recovery, challenging conventional thinking. Of course, this should not influence clinker production or harm neither the availability nor the reliability of the plant.

  • Is energy integration the key to successful carbon capture?

The obvious answer is of course yes, but we will share insights into how and with what technologies. In addition to the cost of energy, effective energy integration is a key bottleneck in any carbon capture project and requires the project to bridge cement production, energy recovery, flue gas cleaning and carbon capture, which is challenging but possible. Furthermore, the energy integration can achieve wastewater free operation, comply with cooling limitations, minimise water consumption and ensure zero plume visibility.
